Drone mounted electric car? Here is BYD’s latest offering

BYD, a Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, recently unveiled a new vehicle equipped with an innovative drone system. According to the Chinese media agency Xinhua, BYD collaborated with DJI to launch this high-tech car, which is currently available in China and priced at approximately $2,197.

The promotional video of the vehicle has gone viral on social media, leaving many people in awe. Reactions have varied, with one netizen commenting that this drone-equipped car is perfect for the traffic situation in Bengaluru.

The vehicle, named Lingyuan, features a drone installed on its roof. Many viewers have reported experiencing a sense of science fiction after watching the video of BYD’s new car, which has been widely shared across various social networking sites. In the video, when the driver presses a button on the touchscreen tablet inside the car, a door on top of the vehicle slides open to reveal the drone on a landing platform.

“Bengaluru traffic needs this,” one user wrote. “Elon Musk, are you listening?” another commented. A third person added, “I’ve always thought that you could mount a covert pneumatic projectile launcher on the underside of your car that takes out the next guy’s tires and get away with it,” as reported by the Hindustan Times.

At the launch event, Wang Chuanfu, chairman and president of BYD, emphasized that “the collaboration between BYD and DJI is far more than just placing a drone in a car.” He highlighted that this partnership aims to drive technological innovation and enhance the intelligence of electric vehicles, ultimately providing users with a more convenient travel experience.

This drone-equipped electric vehicle not only showcases BYD’s innovative capabilities in the electric vehicle sector but also reflects the potential of future transportation methods. As technology continues to advance, the integration of electric vehicles and drones may offer new solutions for urban mobility, improving traffic efficiency and reducing congestion. The collaboration between BYD and DJI undoubtedly sets a new trend in the electric vehicle industry, attracting more consumer interest and paving the way for a smarter, more connected future in transportation.
